In this chapter, we will take a closer look at Primary and Secondary Radars used by Air Traffic Control (ATC) to serve a large number of requirements and users, how they are implemented to provide bearing and distance of targets as also detecting aircraft that are not equipped with a secondary radar transponder.
The lesson will focus on all of the radar types: Long Range Area Surveillance Radar (RSR), Terminal Area Surveillance Radar (TAR), Aerodrome Surveillance Radar (ASR), Precision Approach Radar (PAR), Airport Surface Movement Radar (ASMR), and the characteristic of contemporary radar equipment.
At the end of the lesson, you will test your knowledge by our interactive multiple-choice questionnaire, aimed to improve the understanding of the lesson and give you an introduction about what to expect for your upcoming ATPL exams.
